Presented in Rome last thursday, Torna a casa Jimi – 10 cose da non fare quando perdi il tuo cane a Cipro is a poetic comedy about the absurdity of boundaries and the possibility of knocking them down thanks to a sincere encounter with the other, directed by Marios Piperides with Adam Bousdoukos (main character of Soul Kitchen). A owner of dog ready to do anything to bring back home his dog lost in a divided Cyprus between a greek area and a turkish area in the movie that won Tribeca Film Festival, which will be released 18th April on cinemas.
Nicosia, Cyprus. The last capital split in two parts on the planet. According to the law, no animal, plant or product can be transferred from the greek area of Cyprus to the turkish one. And vice versa. So, when the dog Jimi Hendrix accidentally crosses the ONU buffer zone, his rocker owner (Adam Bousdoukos, favourite actor of Fatih Akim, main character of the cult movie Soul Kitchen), about to leave the island to seek his fortune elsewhere, must instead stop, doing everything to bring it back. And “doing everything” means only one thing, breaking the law, because the poor Jimi has automatically smuggled! The reckless alliance between the greek man Yiannis and the turkish man Hasan will decide the fate of the story.
Daring escapes and extravagant lives intersect in a comedy about the absurdity of boundaries and the possibility of breaking them down thanks to a sincere encounter with the other.

“I grew up hearing that Turks were my enemy …” says the director, who grew up in the Greek area of Cyprus -. I had to wait for the checkpoint to open in 2003 to visit a part of my homeland where I had never set foot. Everything seemed strange and different but at the same time familiar. Places, architecture, smells, people … I had the paradoxical feeling that all that strangeness was familiar to me! As it happens to Yiannis and Hasan, the main character of Torna a casa, Jimi !, when you begin to meet and talk to each other, always respecting the other point of view, you understand that it is the right way to live together. Building walls and divide people leads nowhere … ” Marios Piperides
