Conference on “Perspectives, Challenges & Practices for Integrating Displaced Students in European Universities”

In the frame of the project “European Centre for Refugee Integration in Higher Education” (EUCRITE), Politecnico di Torino is pleased to invite participants to attend the upcoming conference on “Perspectives, Challenges & Practices for Integrating Displaced Students in European Universities”, in collaboration with Aalto University (Finland), Grenoble Institute of Technology (France), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Darmstadt University of Technology (Germany), Graz University of Technology (Austria).

The conference will take place on 14th June 2018 in Castello del Valentino, Torino (Italy). For those interested, on 15th June there will be the possibility of attending an optional training day.

The conference aims at bringing together a variety of stakeholders and practitioners from different European Institutions for higher education and non-profit Organizations working on integrating students with refugee background in Universities across the Continent.

The main goal of the EUCRITE project is that of providing support and training to administrative and academic staff in their interaction with displaced students.

Social inclusion has been recognized by the European Commission as being one of the principle objectives of many of its programs. From education to employment, inclusion represents undoubtedly the key factor guaranteeing a successful integration process. Refugees join many other minority groups who are domestic targets of exclusion: the opportunity of commencing or continuing higher education becomes a crucial step not only towards perfecting skills, but also towards entering the European labour market.
