Five new universities have joined UNIMED

(Rome, 1 March 2019) UNIMED is glad to announce that the network has grown in number of associated members. In february 2019, five new universities from the Euro-Mediterranean region, have formally completed their association process bringing the network to count on 118 members from 23 countries. UNIMED welcomes the two new Libyan members Azzaytuna University” and the “Libyan Academy Misurata”, the Syrian “Academy of Health Sciences”, the Tunisian “Université Virtuelle de Tunis and the Turkish “Süleyman Demirel University”.

UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, founded in October 1991 by Prof. Franco Rizzi, is an association of Universities from the countries of the Mediterranean basin. Its aim is to develop research and education in the Euro-Mediterranean area in order to contribute to scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation, by acting in different scientific fields. Through the many initiatives carried out over almost three decades, UNIMED has promoted the collaboration between universities of the Mediterranean, becoming a point of reference for universities’ international cooperation.
