Sardegna Formed: first results coming in

After the first exams session, UNIMED went to Sardinia to assess the development of the university path of Sardegna FORMED fellows, a long-term mobility project funded by the Fondazione di Sardegna. During a two-day mission at the University of Sassari and at the University of Cagliari, the UNIMED delegation held individual interviews with each of the students involved in the project , taking also operational meetings with the offices of both the Sardinian universities. The outcomes of this first assessment are in line with the expected results designed at the beginning of the project in September 2015. Over 90% of students achieved the necessary credits provided by the project showing significant advances from a linguistic point of view and mastering the Italian language. Even more important, students seem to be totally integrated in the social context looking at Sardinia as a natural extension of their daily lives. Some of them will be involved in promoting tourism in the city of Cagliari during the upcoming summer season; others are organizing events in order to take an active role and to explain their culture to the society, which warmly welcomed them. In the coming months, as an example, free Arabic classes will be delivered by the students of the Sardegna FORMED project.
Sardegna FORMED is a project aimed at enhancing the internationalization and the cultural enrichment of the Sardinia territory and in particular the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari. The allocation of funds provided covers 100 scholarships for students coming from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria covering the whole course of study chosen by the students. Each month, UNIMED in collaboration with the hosting Sardinian universities, performs a quality control to evaluate the academic path of the students.
Sardegna FORMED partners are the Muhammad V University in Rabat, the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Tunis and the Conseil de la communauté marocaine à l’étranger, all institutions with which relations have been built and facilitated by UNIMED. Successful students will complete their entire course of study (undergraduate or master) in order to ensure a long-term impact for the region and the hosting institutions.
