20-22 June 2018
University of Murcia
UNIMED is glad to invite you to the the Fifth Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE5) on 20-22 June 2018 that will be hosted by the University of Murcia in Spain. This year’s topic is: “The learning experience at Arab and European universities: labour market needs, innovation and citizenship”.
UNIMED is a member of the AECHE Steering Committee together with AARU, EUA , University of Barcelona, UNICA (Network of Universities form the Capitals of Europe) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). Since 2012, AECHE has organised higher education leadership conferences on topics of mutual interest. The last AECHE 4 (April 2017, Rabat) examined research and the role of universities in generating societal impact.
This edition will explore how Arab and European universities, through their education mission, respond to societal demand and address the impact of changes in the local and global environment.
In addition to presentations of initiatives and institutional case studies, the conference will also assess national and regional policy and support frameworks, such as the European Commission’s recent Communication ‘A Renewed EU Agenda for Higher Education’, which puts emphasis on universities and innovation, graduate tracking, as well as strategies for social inclusion and skill development, and the work of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on youth employability and inclusive growth.
Following the tradition established by AECHE4, a pre-conference seminar “Doctoral candidates: Changing demands for research and transversal skills”, will be held, which will be a specific effort to engage doctoral candidates – the bridge between teaching and research – and to explore in depth the challenges they face in this changing context.
The event website and registration will be launched shortly. Queries may be addressed to: AECHE@eua.be
The Arab-Euro Conference of Higher Education (AECHE) was established in 2012, as a platform debate and collaboration among universities from both regions, as well as policy makers and representatives of business and society.
