As in past years, UNIMED is sponsoring the photo exhibition: Mediterranean photographs between land and sea “, which, since 2012, presents the Mediterranean as an “experimental” meeting place where cultures and arts interact with each other, talk together, and evolve. Exhibitions and book presentations will display photographs, tell stories to think over and discuss the photographic culture. Emphasis will be put on a photograph that analyzes the wider aspects of being a citizen today, in relation to the territory and the people.
The 2019 edition invites us to consider the “passage” in the broadest sense. “The Mediterranean: photographs between land and sea” features different genres of photography and multiple generations of photographers, also enhancing young authors by making them benefit from testimonial photographers.
The exhibition is displayed in different locations in Naples. From November 16th (date of the inauguration) to December 16th, it will be possible to see approximately 70 photographs of 7 different artists, at Castel dell’Ovo. The idea is to analyze the passage as a limit, a condition of suspension, a crossing of a conceptual boundary, a journey, a change from a past condition to a contemporary one, a transgression of the artistic language. Also, at Palazzo Fondi, from November 14th (date of the inauguration) to December 15th, the images of Alain Licari (Your Wall. Our Lives) will document the life around the wall between the United States and Mexico.
