The Third Edition of the “UNIMED WEEK in Brussels” will take place from 10 to 12 April 2018.
On this occasion we will discuss with the European Commission the current programs and their evolution for the years 2021-2027.
The role of Universities in the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation is increasingly crucial and in this sense the UNIMED WEEK is an important event to both present and discuss with the various DGs of the European Commission and the European Parliament the requests of the Euro-Mediterranean scientific community.
The “UNIMED WEEK in Brussels” is indeed a forum for discussion and networking.
Work sessions will be organized with representatives of DG EAC – Education and Culture – with DG Research and Innovation, DG Near and also with the European Parliament.
The UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS will be an important event where the participation of the Rectors of our member universities and their International Relations Delegates is highly encouraged and expected.
Last year, more than 70 delegates participated to the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS. Participants were Rectors and Presidents, International Relations Delegates, representatives of International Relations Offices and representatives of international organisations and institutions coming from 8 European countries (Belgium, Cyprus, France, UK, Finland, Italy, Spain and Portugal) and 6 non-EU countries (Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia).
Along the days, key challenges have been highlighted in the academic and scientific cooperation with the Mediterranean region:
- strengthening mobility opportunities;
- working on supporting refugees in terms of students, adults, academic staff and researchers;
- reinforcing the networking opportunities for the universities with enterprises and socio-economic realities;
- rethinking to new policy instruments at EU level;
- increasing more social responsibility in the university system to face to the new challenges of the region.
Building on the last years’ experience, we wish the UNIMED WEEK in BRUSSELS 2018 will be a good opportunity to get even more people engaged in sharing and discussing different point of view on the cooperation with the Mediterranean region.
We look forward sharing with you another edition of the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS.
