On October 25th and 26th, 2018, UNIMED General Assembly was hosted at the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy.
The event was attended by 136 participants from 19 countries and featured the contributions of internationally renowned intellectuals and representatives of key Euro-Mediterranean stakeholder institutions. On that occasion, UNIMED renewed its commitment in reinforcing Mediterranean University cooperation as a strategic tool for shaping the future of the region and promoting a greater integration between both shores of our Sea. Rectors, Presidents and their representatives exchanged ideas and plans in plenary sessions and thematic workshops with key Mediterranean University cooperation stakeholders.
One year has passed since UNIMED departing President, Prof. Wail Benjelloun, former Rector of Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco affirmed that “UNIMED has never been as necessary as it is today, as walls and violence rise around the world, UNIMED remains a unique place of dialogue”. One year has passed since the newly elected, and current UNIMED President, Prof. Francisco Matte Bon, Rector of UNINT – International University of Rome, confirmed his commitment in giving his greatest contribution in keeping UNIMED a thriving key actor in Mediterranean University cooperation, along the strategic axes that have already proven their successfulness during the previous Presidency.
