Vis Musicae - 9th Edition |
Taverna (CZ), July 29-31 2010
The ninth edition of the Vis Musicae Festival takes place from 29th to the 31st of July. The 2010 program concentrates on: degrowth, social participation, green economy, climate change. The encounter between artists, scholars and the audience of the Visiting Centre of Mancuso Village is a privileged moment of dialogue and exchange of experiences and knowledge that peaks in the creative synthesis of musical art, and the choice to dedicate morning activities to musictherapy is extremely significant.
Following a principle of essentiality, the evening encounters have a single speaker or a single transversal subject, so as to elaborate on more aspects of the arguments at hand and stimulate the audience’s interaction and participation. Memory and experience represent unquantifiable values and storytelling, musictherapy and games are meant for young and old, because playing with sounds or words, one never stops to learn. In the amphitheatre of the Visiting Centre of the Sila National Park the listening experience is so involving that we have extende our invitation to the blind community, that "reads" books by listening to them and that thanks to new technologies can communicate more easily. The digital age allows forms of social participation that help oppose emargination and exclusion, and reflecting on free software and spread of knowledge is a particular sign of attention to economic and social problems.
The arts of song are represented by the best lebanese improvisation poets - whose performances at home attract thousands of people and who are our guests of honor in this years edition - also thanks to Adnan Haydar. Many other cultures and countries are musically represented: like the great indian tradition, mixed with electronic music, the balcan world and many more. The street music of the inauguration and the multiethnic orchestra of the conclusion are not only symbols of inclusion and participation but a true sonic festival.
