Building capacity in Mediterranean partner countries

Every year, the European Investment Bank (EIB) selects talented young individuals who have the potential to contribute to the economic and social progress of the Mediterranean partner countries to undertake an internship in the Bank’s offices. The FEMIP Internship Programme is open to students and young graduates who are nationals of the Mediterranean partner countries (Algeria, Egypt, Gaza/West Bank, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey). It offers the successful candidates an opportunity to gain professional experience within the EIB and to evolve in a multicultural international environment.
This Programme, funded by the FEMIP Trust Fund, looks for candidates specialising in a field relevant to international development banking, such as economics, finance, the environment, engineering (ports, roads, energy, etc.) or urban planning.
ll candidates who wish to be considered for the FEMIP Internship Programme must meet the following criteria:
- be a national of a Mediterranean partner country;
- be proficient in English and/or French;
- hold a degree from a Mediterranean partner country;
- have demonstrated an ability to conduct analytical work; to exercise good judgment; and to work as part of a team;
- have no more than two years work experience.
The EIB will pay a monthly stipend to all interns (EUR 1.050) and will provide reimbursement of travel expenses (one round trip from/to the point of origin or two in the case of 10 to 12 month assignments). Interns will be responsible for their own accommodation costs.
Each successful candidate will commit to a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months in the Programme, to be spent at the EIB Headquarters in Luxembourg or at one of the External Offices between 1 December 2010 to 31 December 2011. As a rule candidates can only apply for a position in a country of which they are not a resident/ national.
