(Rome, 7 January 2020) UNIMED is glad to announce that the network has grown in number of associated members. During the UNIMED General Assembly 2019, seven new universities from the Euro-Mediterranean region, have formally completed their association process bringing the network to count on 127 members from 23 countries. UNIMED welcomes the following universities: Aix-Marseille University (France), Isra University (Jordan), Libyan International Medical University and University of Zawia (Libya), University of Murcia (Spain), Al-Furat University (Syria), and Manisa Celal Bayar University (Turkey).
UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, founded in October 1991 by Prof. Franco Rizzi, is an association of Universities from the countries of the Mediterranean basin. Its aim is to develop research and education in the Euro-Mediterranean area in order to contribute to scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation, by acting in different scientific fields. Through the many initiatives carried out over almost three decades, UNIMED has promoted the collaboration between universities of the Mediterranean, becoming a point of reference for universities’ international cooperation.
