The First Intercultural Dialogue event realised in Tangier seeking to promote “Mediterraneanness”

(Rome, 7 May 2019) On April 23rd and 24th, 2019,  a group of forty students coming from Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Morocco and Tunisia took part in First intercultural dialogue event of the DIRE-MED project, held at the Ahmed Boukhmakh Cultural Centre in Tangier. The aim of this meeting on the “Mediterraneanness”, organised in partnership with the Abdelmalek Essaadi University of Tangier,  was to promote dialogue and to encourage the opening of the academic world to external environment. The event, which brought together more than 120 people,  has shown the importance of creating opportunities for meeting and sharing experiences, in order to strengthen the emersion of a Mediterranean Generation.

The event helped the students to present their projects to the public: through round tables, training activities, stands, debates, games and other activities they shared their sense of belonging to Mediterranean region and they expressed their desire to defend this common feeling. During the morning session, two round tables allowed students to dialogue with panelists from civil society organizations, civil authorities and the business world on issues related to the common heritage and employability in the Mediterranean area.

A Second Intercultural Dialogue event will be held in Tunis in October 2019 with the aim to continues promoting the “Mediterranean-ness” and to reveal the opportunity of the cultural interaction among Mediterranean countries.
