The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the European Commission (EC), the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) are organizing a regional seminar under the umbrella of the European Union Research and Innovation Programme Horizon 2020.
The Seminar, that will be held on the 22 January 2019 at the Euromed University of Fes (Morocco), has the main objective to foster the cooperation in R&I across the Mediterranean. By strengthening the cooperation in the field of the research, with the financial support of Horizon 2020 funding, it will be possible to develop innovative solutions to common regional challenges.
The full-day seminar will be a concrete occasion to encourage new collaborations between potential partners of the two Mediterranean shores, as it will feature the presence of representatives from academia, research institutes, industrial stakeholders, SMEs, NGOs and policy-makers from the 43 Union for Mediterranean countries. It will be an occasion to receive updates from the EU and the UfM about R&I international cooperation policy, initiatives, priorities and instruments in the Mediterranean region. There will be a specific focus on the upcoming calls of Horizon 2020 (2019 and 2020) to achieve a higher success rate in the grant applications.
The main topics on the agenda refer to: food systems, sustainable intensification in agriculture, bioclimatic approaches for improving energy performance in buildings, urban mobility and sustainable electrification in large urban areas, human dynamics of climate change, migration, drivers and contexts of violent extremism.
