In these difficult times for education, in which stimulating the attention of the youngest behind a screen is a complex challenge, UNIMED is carrying out the “Mediterranean Sea of Peace” project, held by the film director Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso, for the Illuminati High School in Atri, Teramo, Italy.
The short documentary workshop involves 4 classes with a total of 90 high school students and aims to closely observe emigration.
The students have to tell, through the language of the short documentary, the story of a classmate of foreign origin. A Polish girl was chosen.
The students are divided into groups. Some of them take care of preparing the questions for the interviews. Others search for family photos, images of the country, traditional and modern Polish music. A group takes care of the shooting and finally another group concludes with the editing of all the material obtained.
A real journey to discover another culture through the protagonist. A friend like any other in class, but who, through this workshop, will make her discover her other side, the Polish one. The students will be confronted with her history and her culture. The difficulty of moving to another country as a child, the language, the friends. They will discover Polish hip hop, cuisine.
Distant places but told closely.
