The fifth edition of the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS will take place from the 17th  to the 19th March 2020.

The UNIMED WEEK in Brussels is a forum for discussion and networking and an occasion for our associates to meet European and international institutions and learn more about their current and future programs.

In 2020 the UNIMED WEEK in Brussels will be the occasion for our associates to meet representatives of the European Commission and discuss the future opportunities offered by the new framework programme (2021-2027). The role of Universities in the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation is increasingly crucial and in this sense the UNIMED WEEK is an important event to both present and discuss with the various DGs of the European Commission the requests of the Euro-Mediterranean scientific community. Working sessions will be organized with representatives of DG EAC-Education and Culture, DG RTD-Research and Innovation and DG NEAR-Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiation.

The UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS will be an important event where the participation of the Rectors of our member universities and their International Relations Delegates is highly encouraged.

The UNIMED activities and projects are increasingly recognized by the European Commission as well as by other international institutions and this initiative in Brussels will therefore be an opportunity to look at the past, to go on through the course and to further strengthen our network.

Over the years, key challenges have been highlighted in the academic and scientific cooperation within the Mediterranean region:

  • strengthening mobility opportunities;
  • working on supporting refugees, namely students, adults, academic staff and researchers;
  • reinforcing the networking opportunities for the universities with enterprises and socio-economic realities;
  • rethinking to new policy tools at EU level;
  • increasing social responsibility in the university system to face the new challenges of the region.

Building on last years’ experience, we hope the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS 2020 will be a good opportunity to get even more people engaged in sharing and discussing different points of view on the cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

We look forward to sharing with you another edition of the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS and UNIMED Staff is available for all the information you might need. If you have any question concerning your registration, please consult the UNIMED office at unimed@uni-med.net
