Women in leadership positions have proven to be major contributors to the development of sustainable peace. In Libya and Tunisia, women play an important role at a variety of levels in government and in society, and yet they remain underrepresented in aspects of decision-making.

This workshop organised by NATO, in collaboration with UNIMED, will host a diverse group of women leaders from the region who will provide their insights and experience from different backgrounds such as government, academia and society. This event will provide a variety of perspectives, including from NGOs (Human Rights) and governmental officials. The aspiration is to inspire the next generation of women leaders, through highlighting the diverse approaches to life of the participants.

The Workshop is in line with NATO’s approach as expressed in the 2022 Strategic Concept, where the crosscutting importance of integrating the Women, Peace and Security agenda across NATO core tasks is emphasized.
