The 7th edition of the UNICA PhD MASTER CLASS & PRIDE training course: Professionalisation in Practice: Practicing Professionalism in doctoral education hosted by the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies University of Zagreb in Dubrovnik will take place this year from Sunday 28 August until Wednesday 31 August 2016.
The 3-day training, addressed to administrators and academics working in the area of doctoral education, will focus on the roles, responsibilities, and development of professional skills and competences of administrators working in doctoral education.
The course will build on the key findings of earlier activities of the PRIDE project, including the PRIDE Surveys, Focus Groups and interviews with key stakeholders in doctoral education. The training will cover major themes in which professionals’ skills should be further developed and will allow the participants to share and gain new knowledge.
Moreover, it will provide guidance for academic leaders on how Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) can support the professional competence development of current and future professionals working in the area of doctoral education and how to recruit professionals based on transparent job profiles.
Particular focus will be placed on practicing the “working in mixed teams” to tackle relevant issues, such as enrollment, selection, (research) support, monitoring of PhD candidates’ progress or the facilitation of career planning, from various angles.
Special attention will be paid to participants’ needs assessment and feedback as an important driver for advancement of the curricula and training methodologies of future courses.
To participate, please send your application by Monday 20 June 2016 here http://database.unica-network.eu/registration/106
The participation fee of the training is of €650 and includes: accommodation (4 nights) at the Residence of the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies (CAAS), breakfasts, lunches, coffee breaks, 2 dinners and the participation in the social programme. The fee does not cover travel expenses.
