The MIGRANTS project launched its second summer school taking place from September 5th to 8th in London at the University of Westminster.
The MIGRANTS project intends to overturn the common narrative on migration with the aim of addressing the phenomenon outside the logic of emergency, improving cooperation on international migration. The cornerstone of the project is the Master in Migration Studies, open to 25 students from Tunisia, the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Through the Master and other training and research activities, the project intends to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Tunisian higher education system, which is essential for developing the role of the country and for guaranteeing a multidimensional approach to the migratory phenomenon in the Mediterranean.
Among the training activities envisaged by the project, 3 summer schools are organised in Granada (Spain), London (UK) and Palermo (Italy):
The summer school hosted by the University of Granada took place in July 2022, the one in London was held from September 5 to 8, 2022 and the last one in Palermo will be announced in spring 2023.
A rich programme has been developed in London, covering a wide range of inspiring topics and counting on the value of multiculturalism of the context where the event takes place.
Lectures, roundtables, presentations, city tours, and especially focused interactions with the Arab, Chinese, and French communities based in London. Have a look at the Programme and keep following the MIGRANTS project’s activities!
In addition to the summer school, a job shadowing activity was carried out on September 12th.
Job shadowing is a type of on-the-job training, implemented with organizations/institutions having a proven experience on migration and its related issues. This training experience allows participants to acquire an insight on the role, activity and methodology of the stakeholders involved in the activity.
An entire day to approach the work of three different organisations: BAIL FOR IMMIGRATION DETAINEES,
COUNTERPOINTS ARTS and MIGRANT VOICE. More info on the job shadowing programme and the NGOs involved HERE
