The 2022 UNIMED General Assembly will be held on June 22 and 23 in Jordan, organised by UNIMED in collaboration with the University of Jordan in Amman.
At this very moment almost 200 people registered to this event: journalists, professionals, academicians and policy makers. Participants are coming from Europe, as well as MENA countries. The event has been granted with the European Commissioner Ms Mariya Gabriel, European Parliament, Union for the Mediterranean and the University of Jordan patronage. It has received the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic.
The Openings will see the contribution from the University of Jordan – Hadeel Yaseen, Director of International Affairs Unit, Nathir Obeidat – President of the University, UNIMED Leadership and Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth (through a video message).
Then the Institutional Greetings will see on the stage Itaf Ben Abdallah, Union for the Mediterranean Senior Advisor, Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of Association of Arab Universities, Osama Obeidat, CEO of Queen Rania Teacher Academy, Juan Rayón, President of Erasmus Student Network and Min Jeong Kim, Head of UNESCO Office in Amman & UNESCO Representative of Jordan.
The UNIMED General Assembly will be a unique occasion for networking opportunities with international stakeholders. Moreover, it will be the occasion to discuss on extremely relevant topics such as Peace and Security, Media and skills gap, Euro-Mediterranean academic cooperation, International Credit Mobility opportunities, Digital and Open Education, Employability and entrepreneurship, Intercultural dialogue and students’ organisations, Good governance, quality assurance and responsibility in higher education in the MENA region.
On June 21st a pre-event – the “Start Cup Competition” – regarding Entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean Basin, is scheduled from 09:30 am to 01:00 pm. 8 teams of students from Lebanon, Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan will pitch their own business idea and a jury composed by European Training Foundation, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie Moyen Orient and UNIMED will select the most innovative and creative entrepreneurial idea.
Contribute in reaching SDGs aims, working for the implementation of their short- and long-term objectives, support their execution in the Euro Mediterranean region can be easier together. We have to recognize that together we are stronger in facing difficulties, crisis, daily emergencies but also in shaping our future and anticipate all this. We are sure that a stronger cooperation will lead all of us towards a stronger position in reaching our goals
