Research4Life and AGORA Training paves the way to an exciting collaboration between FAO and UNIMED

(Rome, 11 July 2019) FAO and UNIMED did not waste any time after the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations in immersing in their promising collaboration. Last Wednesday the UNIMED focal point met with the AGORA Team that spent the morning introducing her to the five Research4Life programmes, with a workshop on AGORA and a remark on the eligible institutions at UNIMED.

UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, is an association of 124 universities located in 23 countries around the Mediterranean basin. Founded in 1991, the union contributes to scientific, cultural, economic and social cooperation in the Mediterranean area through research and education. UNIMED eligible universities/members will benefit from access to FAO’s technical expertise and knowledge resources on food and agriculture and to Research4Life’s access to relevant and current information and data. A must-have to ensuring the quality of graduate training and research.

This session was only the first of many more training to come; UNIMED and FAO have agreed to extend the training of university staff and university representatives as well as engagement with the students and senior leadership in the colleges/faculties, in particular agriculture, forestry, fisheries, climate, food security, and related biological and environmental.
