#IpevLive | “Transition from violence : lessons from the MENA region”, 8 live conversations

The Foundation Maison des sciences de l’homme – Institutional partner of UNIMED – is launching a series of eight live conversations “Transition from violence : Lessons from the MENA region”. #IpevLive will take place every Tuesday at 5pm CET from May 18 to June 29, 2021 and UNIMED is glad to participate in this initiative.

Prominent scholars and representatives of international organisations and civil society will engage in a series of one-hour conversations focused on achieving transitions from violence by understanding and applying lessons from the Middle East and North Africa.

These live conversations will revolve around three main themes:

1/ The long tail of the Arab Spring and its unresolved root causes.

2/ The MENA region post-covid

3/ Perspectives from the MENA region on future opportunities to exit violence

#IpevLive will be moderated by Hal Plotkin, an American journalist and broadcaster and a former Senior Policy Advisor in the administration of the U.S. President Barack Obama.

About IPEV project

IPEV-International Panel on Exiting Violence is a four-year project led by the Foundation Maison des sciences de l’homme with the support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The goal is to create an international and multidisciplinary community of researchers, from the MENA region and beyond, to address the pressing issue of setting the path for a stable transition from violence in the whole region.

The project has produced a report providing analysis and recommendations on the processes involved in exiting violence intended for decision-makers and NGOs.
