The platform was designed within the SAFE framework, foSter cooperAtion For improving access to protEction, a three-year project (2021-2023), co-funded by the European Union, and implemented by seven partners from France and Italy (Croix Rouge Française, Croce Rossa Italiana, Federazione delle Chiese Evangeliche in Italia, Fédération de l’Entraide Protestante, Forum réfugiés, Oxfam Italia, UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union).

The project’s main goal is to facilitate global exchanges and cooperation on complementary pathways and private sponsorship schemes (PSS).

The SAFE online platform has useful features to share resources, such as:

  • A collaborative database: that allows users to upload relevant content (videos, reports, articles, factsheets, etc) and keep track of past projects and initiatives.
  • A collaborative interactive map that displays actors involved in France and Italy (for now). Users can add any organisation (including their own) to easily update and centralise key resources and, build a community of practice and knowledge on complementary pathways and PSS.
  • An online forum: to share relevant questions and experiences and strengthen collective knowledge on complementary pathways and PSS for refugees.

The tools are user-friendly and accessible for free. Anyone interested in complementary pathways and PSS is strongly encouraged to contribute, share and help strengthen a community of practices and experiences amongst peers.
