The FOP pilot project is having particular positive effects in the Bethlehem local community. The implementation of the WP6 pilot project consisting on the creation of a scattered hotel in the historical center of Bethlehem is getting important attention and creating high expectations among the local community. Dar Al-Kalima University College of Arts and Culture, Palestinian partner of the FOP project, has already identified 18 rooms distributed in whole houses, apartments and rooms, to be refurbished with minor and medium renovation works, and getting ready to be part of the first Bethlehem’s scattered hotel, together with the common Tourist Information Center (TIC), that will serve as welcome center for tourists and as a reception for the scattered hotel. We look forward to see the pilot project completed and to have the opportunity to stay at one of these wonderful houses, full of culture, tradition and history and located in one of the most revered places on Earth. The FOP Project   The FOP (Future of our Past) project aims at developing an innovative tourism plan model for cultural and environmental heritage. Some selected sites in Italy (Lazio, Basilicata, Campania), Spain (Córdoba), Malta (La Valletta), Egypt, Palestine (Bethlehem), Tunisia (Mahdia) and Lebanon (Byblos) will become part of a cross-border network of historical centers in order to mutually strengthen their visibility in the tourism sector. Through the enhancement of these centres, touristic diversification and de-seasonalisation, and the positioning on broader market segments, the concerned local economies will be boosted and further developed. In addition, a widespread hospitality will also be implemented in Palestine in order to stimulate tourism in specific locations with new itineraries including old towns that, despite their value, have never been fully exploited.
