How is AI shaping teaching and learning in Mediterranean higher education?
UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union invites contributions for an occasional paper titled Responsible AI for Enhancing Digital Cooperation in the Mediterranean Higher Education. This publication is an initiative of the UNIMED SubNetwork in eLearning and Open Education and is intended as a collaborative effort to map and share innovative and responsible AI practices that support digital cooperation in Higher Education across the Mediterranean region. It will be presented at the UNIMED General Assembly 2025 hosted by the University of Calabria (Italy), providing a platform to highlight successful initiatives and lessons learned.
The publication will be open access, ensuring broad dissemination and accessibility.
Scope of Contributions
We welcome case studies from university educators, administrators and managers that highlight concrete applications of AI in the following areas:
- Institutional AI policies and strategies
- Training programmes and courses aimed at enhancing AI-related skills among faculty and students
- AI-literacy guides
- AI-enhanced teaching materials and learning practices
- Curriculum development incorporating AI principles
- AI-assisted assessment methods
- AI-driven training programmes and courses
Submission Guidelines
- Case studies should follow the provided template available here
- Contributions should be clear, concise, and focus on practical implementation at course or institutional level
- Submissions must be in English
Revision Process and Acceptance
All submitted case studies will be reviewed by the editors and may undergo a revision process for clarity, relevance, and quality. Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit their contributions based on editorial feedback. Final acceptance will be based on the quality of the content and alignment with the scope of the paper
