UNIMED is calling on students from its member universities to join the jury of the UNIMED Award, a prestigious collateral prize at the Venice International Film Festival, taking place this year from August 27 to September 6, 2025 in Venice, Italy.
Jury members will select the film that embodies artistic excellence and reflects UNIMED’s values: diversity, integration, tolerance, and freedom.
Established in 2017 in memory of Prof. Franco Rizzi, UNIMED’s former Secretary General and founder, the award symbolizes the organization’s commitment to using education as a tool for cultural exchange and combating racism and discrimination.
The award is given by an international jury of students from UNIMED’s member universities, selected from diverse Mediterranean countries to represent the region’s multicultural nature. The winner is chosen from the official competition at the Venice Film Festival, based on both artistic quality and alignment with UNIMED’s core values.
Each year, UNIMED invites member universities to nominate students with a background in cinema or visual arts to join the jury. Students will have the chance to evaluate films and engage in discussions on cinema’s role in shaping cultural understanding. Students interested in joining the jury can apply now by sending their CV to the International Relations Office of their university. All requirements and procedures are explained in the Call for participants here. Deadline 27th April 2025.
This initiative is part of UNIMED’s efforts to foster academic cooperation and promote intercultural dialogue across the Mediterranean. By participating, students gain a unique opportunity to contribute to a prestigious film festival and play an active role in advancing global understanding through the arts.
