The Urban Transports Community – an Interreg MED programme initiative in which UNIMED is a partner – has published a selection of strategic tools and solutions addressing urban mobility in the MedUrbanTools platform, a multi-stakeholder platform, managed by MedCities.
The tools designed, implemented and tested by the projects of the Urban Transports Community, fall under the following areas of interventions: data for smart traffic management, soft mobility, shared mobility, mobility in tourist destinations and new planning approaches.
The Urban Transports Community promotes sustainable urban mobility planning in the Euro-Mediterranean region as an effective way to reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of life of the population and the environment.
It represents the projects CAMP-sUmp, EnerNETMob, LOCATIONS, MOBILITAS, MOTIVATE, SUMPORT and REMEDIO, gathering almost 200 partner organisations (public authorities, associations, mobility planners, universities and international organisations, amongst others) active in 12 European Countries.
Launched in November 2016 and renewed in October 2019 until June 2022, the Community is featured by a project lead by MedCities (Barcelona, Spain), in partnership with UNIMED Mediterranean Universities Union (Rome, Italy), Area Science Park (Trieste, Italy), CODATU (Lyon, France), CIVINET CY-EL (Cyprus-Greece), POLIS, Cities and Regions for transport innovation (Brussels, Belgium), and Durres Municipality (Durres, Albania).
In this second phase the Community has the opportunity to bring the capitalisation process to the next level by providing local authorities with a tailor-made support to implement the replicable solutions it has developed and tested.
