On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the 15th anniversary of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and UfM organise a conference in the framework of the Day of the Mediterranean. The main purpose is to analyse needs and opportunities with the aim to reinforce joint efforts of Research Centers, Universities and Industry representatives towards a Green MED and sustainable development in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
The conference moves from the study “Green innovation and employability in the Med through the triple helix”, commissioned by the UfM and realized by the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED).
The study is part of a series of activites carried out by UfM with the support of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), with the aim to facilitate exchanges between the different societal pillars of the “triple/quintuple helix”, in support of the innovation ecosystem, and the employability of its youth.
The main aim of the report is to further investigate and highlight new opportunities and best practices for the development of a sustainable economy through research, innovation and employability in the Euro-Mediterranean Area, with a particular focus on three pilot countries: Jordan, Italy and Tunisia.
Important contributions have been shared by stakeholders from universities, research centers, enterprises, civil society and different sectorial Ministries, in the occasion of a cycle of roundtables organized by the UfM and UNIMED in the three Member States. Discussions have focused on how research could contribute to the socio-economic development of Countries for a better employability of graduates and young researchers in the perspective towards the green transition.
The workshop will take place at Federico II University in Naples on the 15th of November 2023.
Several representatives from Italian and Mediterranean ministries, research institutes and cooperation experts from Italy, Morocco, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan will participate to reflect upon the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in research and innovation in the perspective of mutual support and eco-sustainable development of the region.
