Next February 26 and 272024, the H2020 project EUMEPLAT will hold its final event in Brussels (and online).

REGISTER NOW.

The first day will be devoted to the final partners meeting, while the second day will be dedicated to the evidence-based recommendations to European and national policymakers and market stakeholders, focusing in particular on the following critical areas: Media regulationSupport to Public Service MediaTheatrical and video-on-demand movies distributionMisinformation; with a section also concentrated on the valorization of the best practices that we have collected in the various fields of social media communication, alternative media, citizen journalism, and media representation of disadvantaged groups.

Almost 3 years passed since the first meeting of the project, back in March 2021. During these years, the research team, coordinated by professor Andrea Miconi from IULM University, worked on different dimensions to investigate whether the media platforms are making or breaking the European identity, analyzing the evolution of the media systems and regulations and the production and consumption trends as for traditional and new media, the impact of fake news and misinformation on journalism, the spread of contemporary video platforms and the media representation of sensitive issues, notably gender and migrations.

Several reports and scientific publications, as well as a book on the European media systems and a dashboard about the European media history have been issued so far and first-hand dataset will be available soon. All the project outcomes are available on our website here and on our Community on Zenodo here, under Creative Commons license, thus allowing further reuse and dissemination of the results achieved.

Moving from the research results, it is now time to elaborate a set of recommendations addressed to the policy and decision-makers. Through the work of the five task forces created within the research team – Surveillance and Resistance, Choice and Algorithms, Toxic Debate and Pluralistic Values, Destructive Technologies (and War), Gender in Societies – and the exchanges with different categories of external stakeholders (academics, researchers, journalists, writers and screenwriters, video directors, artists, international organization representatives, policy makers etc.), the project is about to deliver a White Book of Recommendations and a policy recommendations report.

REGISTER NOW as registration, for both onsite and online participants, is compulsory.
