The Each One Take One (EOTO) is a global solidarity movement of universities collaborating with UNHCR to develop impact-led agendas to respond to global forced displacement.
Universities have a unique, urgent responsibility in educating the next generation and building societies capable of responding to global crises and contributing to sustainable development goals. Achieving the 15by30 target – enrolling 15% of refugees in higher education by 2030 – requires greater collaboration between UNHCR and universities, particularly in the largest refugee-hosting countries.
Each One Take One provides universities with the tools, networks and support they need to ensure refugees join and participate fully on campus, rebuild their lives through education, and develop essential skills and knowledge, wherever they are.
What can you do to support Each One Take One?
1. Respond to the EOTO expression of interest form to indicate your interest and join the movement: LINK to form.
2. Complete the Opportunity Mapping survey (closing date 31 January 2025)*: LINK to survey homepage. The mapping survey is designed to gather responses from higher education institutions and providers and collects essential data on refugee and asylum seeker enrolment, scholarship opportunities and practices on empowering refugee and asylum seeker higher education. Your input will help create a global database and inform the strategic direction of EOTO.
Note: The invitation to participate in the mapping survey may reach several persons within the same institution. However, only one comprehensive answer per institution is needed, which represents the perspective of the entire institution. Therefore, we kindly encourage internal coordination and consultation with colleagues to gather the necessary information before completing the online survey.
*Institutions and providers can access the mapping survey questionnaire in PDF format in order to collect all the necessary data prior to completing the online questionnaire. The PDF version of the survey is available for download in English, French, Arabic, German, Spanish, Turkish and Russian. All translations of the PDF version are also available for download at this link: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/content/participate-thes-and-unhcrs-higher-education-survey-opportunities-refugees.
3. Share the EOTO materials (video, slides, recording) with your contacts and networks as relevant, to help us grow the movement! The recording is available in different languages (ENGLISH recording, ARABIC recording, FRENCH recording, SPANISH recording).
Institutions that join EOTO benefit from access to a repository of best practices, networking with like-minded institutions, and exclusive resources, such as training modules and policy guides, to deepen their impact on refugee education.
