The eighth edition of the Aqua Film Festival, organised by the nonprofit Cultural Association UNIVERSI AQUA and under the patronage of UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union, will take place at Casa del Cinema in Rome and will be streamed online on Mymovies.it, from 6 to 9 June 2024.

The history of humanity and the scientific genesis of life itself depend on water, and along with the air we breathe, it is our main source of survival. The importance of this mother element assumes numerous forms and implications and embodies a permanent and fundamental axis in the economies, social balance and cultural identities of the planet. Water is one of the indispensable elements that assures each and everyone the universal human right “to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family”. (Article 25, Universal Declaration of Human Rights).

For the Aqua Film Festival, short films and documentaries from all over the world have been selected with the aim of raising public awareness on WATER, this precious element of intrinsic beauty, wonderful source of life, and common yet limited resource, which should be preserved, protected and re-distributed equitably and fairly.
