On October 1, 2024, Dr. Marcello Scalisi, UNIMED Director, met Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, President of Cairo University, along with Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Vice President for University and Research, and Dr. Heidi Bayoumi, Director of the International Cooperation Office. The meeting, held at Cairo University, focused on enhancing collaboration between the university and UNIMED in research, academic exchange, and students and professors mobility.

As a founding member of UNIMED, Cairo University has contributed plenty  in fostering cooperation among Mediterranean universities. President Abdel Sadiq highlighted the institution’s commitment to supporting international students and encouraging knowledge exchange across the Euro-Mediterranean, African, and Middle Eastern regions.

Both parties emphasized expanding current partnerships and creating new opportunities for academic and research cooperation, aiming to strengthen ties between Cairo University and other Mediterranean universities.
