The University of Pisa, together with the Tuscan Universities of Florence and Siena, has launched an international Ph.D. programme in Economics.

The PhD is open to everyone who is interested to participate and the call for applications for the three-year (2022-2024) has been just published. Deadline for application is August 10, 2022. This year there are 10 positions available with full scholarship.

The programme takes three years of full-time study and aims at training students for a career as economists in research institutions. In the first year, students are required to take compulsory courses, which provide them with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to conduct highest-level research. Courses are mainly held at the University of Siena (Italy), where students are welcome to apply for accommodation facilities. In the second and third years, students can pursue their project at either university depending on their interests. All the students must stay six months visiting abroad (with an increase in the scholarship of 50%).

The PhD programme can focus on the following themes:

  • Public administration
  • Cultural heritage
  • The value of sustainability in the energy market
