The LINGUA FRANCA project aims at promoting a new communication network addressed to strengthen knowledge and skills of the Italian language of the participants, in order to improve relations between the countries of the shores of the Mediterranean.
The project has the following objectives: updating of university language, teaching Italian through the use of new technologies such as the creation of the cooperation and exchange process between the countries involved in the project; enrichment of human capital through the development of language skills and intercultural knowledge the increase in employability thanks to multilingual skills. In detail, the project intends to encourage the updating and exchange of educational best practices between partner institutions; transfer new innovative teaching methods of the Italian language with a pluri-linguistic slant oriented to the enhancement of previous skills with a focus on specific needs of Arabic-speaking learners; promote the development of joint courses or integrated schemes that envisage structured mobility schemes for teachers and students and recognition of training activities; share linguistic assessment models to be carried out on- line before the start of international mobility with the recognition of educational credits; design summer / winter schools and intensive courses, during which it will be given the opportunity for foreign participants to enjoy the activities of the Departments of the University of Catania; support the internationalization of partner institutions of higher education in the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean, that is, Tunisia and Jordan; improve the quality of services and dedicated human resources in order to teach Italian language through mutual learning and the exchange of good practices; promote in partner countries the launch of training structures similar to the School of Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners of UniCT (ITALSTRA) or the strengthening of existing linguistics centers within the University with Italian language sections, increasing the experimentation and innovative teaching practices.
