Title

Climate change, food and water and migration outlines in the Mediterranean. Insight from the Intercultural Trends Report by the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF)

Date

20 September 2021, at 3.30 pm – 5 pm CEST

Abstract

Environmental change and disasters have always been major drivers of migration. However, climate change predictions for the 21st century indicate that even more people are expected to be on the move as several recent events and natural disasters have shown. This is particularly true for the Euro-Med region which is considered a “hotspot” of climate change and Environmental migration. It is clear that the interest in climate and environmental issues transcend borders, educational levels and generations. This webinar, organized in collaboration with the Anna Lindh Foundation and the UNIMED SubNetworks on Climate and Environmental Change, Food and Water and Migration, and with the participation of IOM-International Organization for Migration, will be the occasion to better understand the impact of climatic changes on migration and intercultural cooperation in the Mediterranean. At the same time, it will be the occasion to learn some key findings of the new edition of the Intercultural trends and social changes report of the Anna Lindh Foundation, to get some hints for enhancing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and understand how the culture is a powerful tool for strengthening the dialogue.
